So two matches and POL-ITE 2012 will come to an end. Of course, with not much good result to clinch the top 3 this year, when we could have actually have. I'm partly to blame for not securing the win for the first two matches. Let me start off with the first match.
NYP - lost 2-3
This school gave us a shock when we thought they were the easy team to beat but little did we know that they had new intakes which were better and in solid form. My doubles failed to deliver the win which could actually determine a win and a lose. One word, disappointed.
SP - lost 2-3
This year batch of this school certainly is the team that we can beat, because most of their good players have graduated. we could have gotten 3-2 or even 4-1 . Trust me, we could have won. And again, my doubles fail to deliver again. And to add on with that, the weren't as tough to beat as the other doubles. Tell me how the hell can this happen?? Just fucked up, really.
TP - lost 2-3
So this match was a decider and whichever school won will still have the chance of fighting for 3rd place at least. There were a few changes to the line up and i paired up with my last yr doubles partner. This time, we were determine to win. And we did. Both RP doubles secure the wins while the 2 singles lost. So we were all up to the final decider, which we knew we have a higher percentage of winning. Its like Thomas Berdych takes on some random player ranking #100 like that. But what we expect did not turn out to the way it is. Instead, things turn the other way round and if the last singles was not given any form of tactics or advice, trust me he would have been trash badly. He managed to catch up but not much so in the end, RP lost again giving us the 4th place to fight for now.
And as for now, even though the road to clinching a medal is gone, at least we'll do our best to settle for 4th place. And after this tournament, the team will have to do some changes to the training system in hope that everyone in the team can gradually improve by the next year POL-ITE.
Later night, i'll be having an intermediate doubles and lets hope for the best in my first round!
